From Pranassentials to Natty Bars: Why We Changed Our Name (and Why We're Lathering Up for Soapmaking)

Change is a funny thing. Sometimes it creeps up on you. Sometimes it hits you like a eucalyptus steam cloud to the face. In our case—it was a bit of both.

If you've been with us from the beginning (big hugs if you have), you might know us as Pranassentials—a name rooted in the word prana, meaning life force, breath, and energy. That name served us well in our early days of crafting holistic, all-natural skincare. It reflected our values: intentional living, connection to nature, and honoring ancient traditions.

But lately, something’s been bubbling up (and no, it’s not our coconut milk soap batter).

We’ve fallen head over heels for soapmaking.

We didn’t expect it. But the more we experimented with lye and botanicals, swirled in herbs and essential oils, and cut into fresh, creamy bars of cold process goodness—we knew this wasn’t just a side project. This was our new heartbeat. There’s something beautifully old-school and grounding about soapmaking. It’s slow, hands-on, fragrant, and full of transformation. Just like life. Just like us.

And so, it was time for our brand to evolve, too.

Why “Natty Bars”?

We wanted a name that stripped things back. Something simple. Earthy. Honest.

Natty is slang for natural, but with a little grit. A little charm. It’s raw, unfiltered, and proud of it. No fancy frills, no synthetics, no greenwashed marketing fluff. Just natty.
